Education is not about to gain only knowledge. Education is like a healthy food which nourishes us both internally and externally. It makes us strong internally and gives lots of confidence by making our personality and giving us knowledge. Good education helps us to be healthy, save many lives, boosts economic growth, earn money, raise quality crop, promote peace in the society, eradicate poverty, remove gender discrimination and inequality, promote women and children rights, bring good governance, remove corruption, make aware about fundamental rights and so many. Good education does not mean to study hard and get good results however it is to conquer new things for the betterment of mankind.
SCEP concentrated on elimination of child labour in 5 villages of Mahbubnagar district. SCEP has conducted the survey in the schools, which revealed that 418 boys and girls between the age of 6 to 14 years are not attending the school due to family financial crisis and started working as labours as in agricultural fields. SCEP has made efforts to discuss these issues with the parents, schoolteachers, youth clubs and gram panchayat leaders to take initiative in re enrolling the students in to the schools.
SCEP conducted a survey in 2 mandals namely Uppanuntala, Amrabad on children education status of SC ST communities. The study reveals that most of the children are not able to attend school due to child labor, high school dropouts, girl children education is not encouraged and parents are unaware of social welfare hostels. Hence the organization is planning to take integrated development of SC ST communities so that their children improve education standards.
The Adult literacy program is conducted in 15 villages with 245 elders are being improved their functional literacy.
Counseling to parents – The organization is providing information to the parents of children with available schools, social welfare hostels, details of scholarships, provisions of books and other provisions given by state and central government. During months of June and July the organization took up special drive to enroll all the eligible children into schools and social welfare hostels. The organization worked with school teachers, elected representatives of local bodies in sensitizing the parents and communities giving priority to the children education.
SCEP is promoting parents participation in primary school education, hence encouraging parents to meet at least once in 3 months to understand the issues related to school and children.
SCEP conducted 42 village level meetings with sarpanches, village secretaries, school teachers, Vidya volunteers, Anganwadi workers and Asha workers in proper enrolling of children at right age.
SCEP conducted village level campaign on education for children, mainly for girl children with rallies, meetings.
The voluntary workers of SCEP regularly visiting schools and social welfare hostels on monthly basis to understand the issues in hostels and putting efforts to improve the conditions such as cleanliness, facilities at hostels and health status of students. SCEP is working with 13 schools and 17 hostels in Amrabad, Uppanuntala and Kondurg mandals.
SCEP conducted regular meetings with Vidya Volunteers in supporting their activities. Vidya volunteers are to support children in government social welfare hostels for their improved education. Vidya volunteers were also improved their confidence levels.
